This class could be the transformation you need.
HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT?
The benefits of the GET WOKE! experience are many. You can expect:
Less worry and reduced anxiety
Increased ability to stay calm
Fewer symptoms of depression
Better understanding of who you are
Less pain and tension in your body
New skills to manage runaway negative thoughts
Make connections with others in group
Greater ability to let go of difficult feelings
ABOUT THE CLASS
You will meet in a small group -- five to seven people ages 11-17. This allows more time for meaningful discussion and learning activities. Between sessions you will practice meditation and noticing your thoughts and emotions.
Face it -- you have many demands on your time and energy. School, parents, and friends expect a lot. It's hard to deal with and can get you feeling bad about yourself. Imagine if you didn't need to struggle. GET WOKE! combines mindfulness and activities to get you in touch with your thoughts and emotions. GET WOKE! will teach you how to stop the struggle. That way you can accept what’s real and move forward with life. When you accept what you can change and let go of what you can’t change, life becomes more enjoyable and easier.
With her welcoming smile and fun-loving spirit, Sunyata Kopriva-McPherson, MSW, LCSW, will lead the group. Sunyata is a fully licensed child and adolescent trauma therapist and yoga teacher. She has practiced various types of meditation and prayer since her teen years, and is now a dedicated student of Tibetan Buddhism and yoga. Her classes are creative, fun, and thoughtful.
Registration is first come, first served. To register, complete the MBCT Registration Form and email it to Sunyata Kopriva McPherson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
