Sandra Miller, MSW, LCSW

Life never goes exactly as we plan. When life gets off track or out of control, I can help you find your bearings. I am strengths-based, results-driven and passionate about helping you learn to navigate life more easily.

Whether you are a teen, young adult or adult, a couple or family, my goal is to help you heal as quickly as you can.  We will start wherever you are — and proceed from there.  Most of my clients improve with hard work and perseverance.  I want to be a part of your healing also.

Working with me, you’ll learn to be mindfully aware of what you are doing, thinking and feeling so that you can accept life as it is and change what isn’t working for you.

We will experiment with new ways of handling strong emotions, transforming negative thoughts and being more effective in the world. You will learn skills to cope with stress, regulate thoughts and emotions and interact more effectively with others. And you will learn to manage racing thoughts, excessive worry and rehashing old hurts that distract you from life in the here and now..

I have experienced firsthand the resilience of people and relationships in the face of serious mental illnesses, difficult life situations and trauma.  And I have seen firsthand how effective DBT can be when individuals, couples and families are committed to obtaining the skills and awareness to create a life worth living.

In addition to therapy, I lead two skills groups: DBT for Couples and the Mindful Way Through Depression, each offered once a year.    

On a more personal note, I am married to the love of my life and have two adult children, ages 30 and 33. Being a therapist is my second career. In my first career, I was a behavioral economist. I went back to school when I was 56 years old to achieve a long-held dream. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, moved to Botswana, then landed in Little Rock, Arkansas for 28 years. I moved to St Louis in 2013. For fun, I enjoy travel, camping, reading, cooking and time with friends and family.
