After graduating with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology I began working at Every Child’s Hope as a Youth Care Specialist. This experience solidified my passion to help others and motivated me to gain more knowledge and skills by advancing my education. However, life does not always go as planned. I did not enter back into the academic world and instead began working at SAFE Alternatives at Centerpointe Hospital. My time at SAFE was an invaluable experience during which I was allowed to assist clients struggling with self-injury. Seeing clients transform during their time in treatment will always remain with me and continues to inspire me today. After a year with SAFE, the program was closed and so I began working at McCallum Place for Eating Disorders.
Currently, I am a Masters of Social Work student at Saint Louis University where I am focusing on Clinical Social Work and trauma in young adults and adults. I decided to do my internship at St. Louis DBT because I have seen the usefulness of CBT and I believe DBT can take therapy a step further. DBT gives me a platform to understand clients, meet them where they are, give them the skills to do something different, and overall uncover a life worth living.
